Choosing your truss

Timber vs Light Steel

Both are strong, both are custom-engineered to your plans. The right choice depends on your span, budget and design. Here’s the short version.

Timber Trusses

The traditional, versatile choice
CostOften lower upfront for standard residential spans.
Best forHomes, estates and pitched residential roofs.
StrengthsWidely understood, easy for most crews to install, naturally insulating.
ConsiderNeeds proper treatment; heavier members on very long spans.
Typically chosen for residential & estate work

Light Steel Trusses

The long-span, modern choice
CostCompetitive at scale and on large or complex spans.
Best forCommercial, industrial and large developments.
StrengthsLight, dimensionally precise, non-combustible, no warping or pests.
ConsiderEngineered to spec — best matched to your project by quote.
Typically chosen for commercial & large-span work

Common questions

Roofing Questions, Answered

The things developers and homeowners ask us most. Still unsure? A free quote sorts out the rest.

Does Keevey Roofing install roofs?
No — we’re a supply-only business. We manufacture and supply custom-fit roof trusses and roofing materials, and your own contractor installs them. That keeps you in full control of who erects your roof.
What roofing materials do you supply?
Custom-fit timber and light steel roof trusses, plus coverings: traditional roof tiles, galvanized metal sheeting and high-durability Chromadek sheeting — all engineered to your plans.
Are Certificates of Conformance included?
Yes. Every supply includes a Certificate of Conformance (COC) meeting regulatory safety standards, so your sign-off is one less thing to chase.
How much does a quote cost?
Quotes are completely free and no-obligation. Send your plans or requirements and we’ll prepare a quote — including a recommendation on whether timber or light steel suits your project.
Should I choose timber or light steel trusses?
Timber is often chosen for homes and estates and can be lower-cost upfront on standard spans. Light steel is light, precise, non-combustible and suits commercial, industrial and large-span developments. Your free quote includes a recommendation engineered to your specific plans.
